"Kozloduy NPP - New Build" possesses capital with no real backing as a result of controversial and outrageous practices. This was stated by Minister of Energy Iva Petrova during a meeting of the relevant parliamentary committee.
Petrova clarified that upon taking office, she ordered an audit of the company. The inspection revealed alarming details, including an attempted purchase of private land. The plot had been valued at between 1,500 and 1,600 euros per square meter, but the deal was not finalized.
"When certifying the financial report of 'Kozloduy NPP - New Build', we reached the conclusion that there are no real assets behind the registered capital, which is a problem for a project company and compromises the entity," the minister explained. She added that all results from the inspections have been handed over to the competent authorities, and procedures regarding the case are already underway.
The company is tasked with the responsibility of constructing Units 7 and 8 at the Kozloduy site. This project has been identified as a leading priority for the national energy sector.
