At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hall, a large-scale expert event was held, dedicated to one of the most significant economic issues for the country – the introduction of the single European currency. The lead lecturer was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kaloyan Simeonov from Sofia University, a recognized specialist in the field of European economic integration.

The academic researcher presented an in-depth analysis of the currency convergence process, defining it as a strategic civilizational choice for Bulgaria. His argumentation was supported by specific economic indicators and expert observations of contemporary European financial trends.

Among the key messages of the lecture was the statement that the introduction of the euro would not cause uncontrollable inflationary pressure. Simeonov emphasized that the main goal of the European Central Bank is to maintain price stability, which is achieved through precise monetary mechanisms.

The lecturer dispelled concerns about a potential decrease in the standard of living by presenting convincing arguments for economic growth and parallel increase in wages in the post-pandemic period. Additional attention was paid to the institutional guarantees introduced after the financial crisis of 2007-2009.

The expert discussion examined the practical aspects of eurointegration legislation, with special emphasis placed on the role of national institutions in preventing speculative trading practices. Simeonov analyzed the importance of the currency board as a stabilizing mechanism for maintaining the existing exchange rate.

The event, organized by the Diplomatic Institute, attracted the attention of intern attachés from the "Dr. Georgi Valkovich" class and established diplomatic experts. As a token of appreciation, the lecturer donated his scientific works to the institution, reinforcing the academic value of the presented research.

The lecture outlined the complex picture of the upcoming currency transformation, combining theoretical knowledge with practical recommendations for successful European integration.
