Condor Aircraft Engine Catches Fire During Flight from Corfu to Düsseldorf

A Boeing 757 engine of the "Condor" airline, operating a flight from Corfu to Düsseldorf, caught fire shortly after takeoff, reports "Protothema". Around 250 passengers were on board the aircraft when bright flashes and explosions broke out in one of the engines, clearly visible in videos published by eyewitnesses on TikTok.

The incident occurred at an altitude of about 1500 feet (455 meters), when the right engine began to burn. The crew immediately shut it down to prevent further spread of the fire.

The aircraft then made a turn, flying right parallel to the runway, and subsequently headed northwest of Corfu, reaching an altitude between 6000 and 8000 feet. The machine was redirected to the Italian airport in Brindisi, where it landed successfully.

Local residents of Corfu reported seeing the engine incident over the harbor, with many people - including tourists - hearing the deafening noise as the plane passed.
