Two people were injured as a result of fires that broke out in the country in the last 24 hours. The data was announced by the General Directorate "Fire Safety and Population Protection" (GD_FSPP) in its official bulletin, published on the agency's website.

The period from 00:00 to 24:00 on September 6 was a busy one for the fire and emergency rescue teams. During this 24-hour period, a total of 189 calls for incidents of various kinds were received. As a result of the quick and coordinated response of the firefighters, 144 fires were extinguished.

Alarming Fire Statistics

The alarming statistics show that 31 of the fires caused significant material damage. Of these:

The fire also did not spare vehicles, as three of the calls were for burning cars, which quickly turned into a charred pile of metal. Another fire engulfed a forest massif, threatening the ecosystem and spreading at an dangerously fast pace. In urban areas, one fire was registered on an open site and three others in open-air facilities.

Although without direct material damage, the remaining 113 fires also posed a serious threat and required immediate intervention. A significant number of them - 42 - were in waste, which is often the result of negligence or deliberate actions. The most numerous were fires in dry grass, forest litter, and bushes - a total of 63. These incidents highlight how easily fire can spread in drought conditions and how a small spark can turn into a major disaster. Two fires in stubble fields were also extinguished, as were six others.

In addition to fighting the fires, the GD_FSPP teams were also actively involved in 33 rescue and assistance operations. Five of these were in road accidents, where the quick and professional intervention was crucial for saving human lives. The work of the rescuers is highly appreciated by the citizens, who often witness their dedication and self-sacrifice.
