NRA officials were detained in Chernomorets following a report that they demanded a 300-euro bribe from a shop owner to cover up violations found during an inspection.

Arrest of tax officials in Chernomorets

Two employees of the National Revenue Agency (NRA) were detained during a specialized police operation in Chernomorets. The reason for the operation is suspicion of soliciting and accepting a bribe.

The report was filed by the owner of a mini-market in Sozopol, who was being extorted by the inspectors.

According to information from the police, the tax officials had identified numerous violations at the merchant's establishment. Instead of following legal procedures, they offered a deal:

Immediately after the hand-over of the sum, the two NRA employees were detained on the spot by law enforcement authorities. Under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Burgas, pre-trial proceedings are already underway, and the investigation into the case continues with interrogations and procedural investigative actions.
