Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria (DSB) calls for a discussion in the NSC on Macron's initiative to extend the French nuclear umbrella to other European countries. According to the party, Bulgaria is interested in this, especially in the context of the war in Ukraine and Iran. They also propose the creation of a situation center for 24/7 monitoring of risks to national security.

Bulgaria is interested in expanding France's nuclear umbrella over other European countries, said the leader of DSB, Atanas Atanasov. He called on President Iliana Yotova to convene the Consultative Council for National Security (CSNS) to discuss the initiative of French President Macron.

Radan Kanev, a Member of the European Parliament from DSB, pointed out that the French President has announced an initiative to expand French nuclear security guarantees to other European countries. Kanev added that such a defense initiative is also of interest to the Black Sea basin, and that Bulgaria has an unconditional interest in receiving such guarantees due to the war in Ukraine and Iran.

DSB believes that it is right to convene the CSNS, to seek a national consensus, and for the topic of national security to come out of the election campaign. Kanev pointed out that it is right for President Yotova to invite the formation of President Rumen Radev to this CSNS as well.

In response to the question of whether the expansion of the nuclear umbrella will not make us a target, Kanev replied that France is not participating in the conflicts in Ukraine and Iran, and this is the basis for a common European defense.

DSB proposed the creation of a situational center in the Security Council to the Council of Ministers for 24/7 monitoring of risks to national security.
