The Sofia District Prosecutor's Office has brought charges against a 52-year-old man for serious crimes committed in the context of domestic violence. According to a statement from the state prosecution, the man is accused of inflicting bodily harm and unlawfully depriving the woman he lives with as a spouse of her liberty.

The incident took place between August 9 and 11 in an apartment in the capital. The prosecution claims that the accused held the victim against her will in his home, preventing her from leaving the residence for several days. The violence culminated on August 11 around 5:00 PM, when the man allegedly struck multiple blows with his fists to the woman's head and kicked her body, causing her bodily harm.

As a result of these actions, the perpetrator has been detained for up to 72 hours. The prosecution is actively investigating the case and is expected to submit a request to the Sofia District Court for imposing the most severe measure of restraint - "detention in custody".

This case is not isolated and fits into the worrying trend of increasing incidents of domestic violence in the country. Just days ago, the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office brought charges against another man, aged 44, for a similar crime. He is accused of inflicting bodily harm on his own mother and making death threats against her.

According to the prosecution, on August 3 in an apartment in the "Lyulin" district of the capital, the accused D.U. attacked his mother, striking her on the back, body, and left arm, causing her minor bodily harm. During the beating, the man also made a death threat, saying: "I'll send you to the grave".

These cases highlight the seriousness of the problem of domestic violence in Bulgaria and the need for stricter measures to protect victims. Experts call for more effective implementation of existing legislation and expansion of programs for prevention and support of domestic violence victims.

Authorities remind citizens to report cases of domestic violence immediately and emphasize the importance of public attention to this issue. These incidents are expected to provoke discussion about the need for additional legislative changes and social measures to address domestic violence in the country.
