Diplomatic meeting reveals potential for technological partnership between Bulgaria and Armenia

The foreign ministers of Bulgaria and Armenia held key negotiations in Sofia, outlining prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation in the field of high technologies and regional connectivity.

On July 16, 2025, a significant meeting was held at the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs between the Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev and the Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia Mkhitar Hayrapetyan. The diplomatic meeting was part of the ninth session of the Bulgarian-Armenian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation.

High-ranking representatives from both countries also participated, including the First Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia Gevorg Mantashyan and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vakhan Kostanyan. The diplomats emphasized the long-standing friendly relations based on shared historical and cultural ties between the two peoples.

Among the main highlights of the discussions were the prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation, especially in the context of the successful dialogue between the European Union and Armenia. The ministers exchanged views on current international issues and expressed mutual satisfaction with the political consultations.

Minister Hayrapetyan presented Armenia's progress in the high-tech industry and expressed readiness for in-depth cooperation with Bulgaria. For his part, Minister Georgiev emphasized the strategic importance of Armenia as a partner in the Black Sea region.

The priority goals of the two countries were identified as intensifying economic interaction, increasing trade exchange, and developing connectivity - transport, energy, digital, and interpersonal.

Bulgaria reaffirmed its support for Armenia's rapprochement process with the European Union, expressing readiness to share expert experience. The two countries emphasized the importance of achieving a more stable regional environment by improving connections between Europe and Asia.

The diplomatic meeting reinforced the impression of a constructive dialogue and potential for future expansion of partnership between Bulgaria and Armenia in various strategic directions.
