A new stage in energy relations between Bulgaria and Turkey
DPS leader Delyan Peevski expressed his satisfaction with the results achieved following the meeting between Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The main focus of the talks was the freezing of the contract with the Turkish energy company "Botas" for a period of 15 months.
This gesture from the Turkish side is an example of good-neighborly relations, which are especially important to us, as Turkey is a key strategic partner for Bulgaria.
Main points of the agreement
- Renegotiation of terms: The goal is to adapt the contract to current market conditions.
- Efficiency: The two sides will work to use the maximum capacity for natural gas transit.
- Financial relief: "Bulgargaz" will pay only for the capacity actually used during the freezing period.
This agreement is a key moment in bilateral relations, highlighting the pursuit of pragmatism and the protection of the national interest in the energy sector.
