Dimitar Nikolov: Giro d’Italia is a success for the entire region
The mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov, congratulated the participants and organizers of the 109th edition of the Giro d’Italia minutes before the start of the second stage from the seaside city to Veliko Tarnovo.
I want to thank our Italian partners for the perfect organization of the race. Burgas wishes success to all participants, stated Nikolov.
He emphasized that hosting the prestigious competition brings benefits not only to Nesebar, Burgas, and Sozopol, but to the entire region.
First stage: Paul Magnier snatched the victory
The winner of the first stage (Nesebar - Burgas) was the Frenchman Paul Magnier from the "Soudal Quick-Step" team. He covered the 147 kilometers in 3 hours, 21 minutes, and 8 seconds. Tobias Lund Andresen and Ethan Vernon finished second and third, respectively.
