The Management Board of the State Fund "Agriculture" (SFA) approved the intensity of support for the provision of "Assistance to compensate for damage to agricultural crops caused by adverse climatic conditions, which can be equated to natural disasters" for damage from hail, storm and heavy rain, flood and drought that occurred in 2025, the Fund announced.
The funds that will be allocated to farmers to compensate for damage to agricultural crops as a result of severe meteorological conditions are distributed at the following intensity of production costs (according to the technological card) by crop:
- up to 80 percent of the actual costs of growing: tomatoes, watermelons, melons, apricots, plums, cherries, apples, wine and dessert vineyards;
- up to 50 percent of the actual costs of growing: wheat (soft and hard), barley, triticale, rapeseed (hail), corn, sunflower, coriander, alfalfa, vetch, pea for grain and field beans.
The support rates will be determined together with the budget and the deadlines for applying for assistance in 2026.
Farmers with observation reports issued in 2025 for completely destroyed areas with agricultural crops from hail, storm and heavy rain, flood and drought that occurred in 2025 will be eligible for support.
According to the scheme, farmers who have not taken out insurance receive 50 percent of the eligible amount for support. This reduction in the amount of support does not apply if, at the time the damage occurred, insurance at an acceptable price covering the specific risk in the respective Member State or the respective region was not available (not offered on the relevant insurance market).
SFA, together with the competent directorates in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, will prepare guidelines for the acceptance of applications and the provision of assistance in 2026.
BTA reminds that on November 5, the deadline for accepting applications for the provision of "Assistance to compensate for damage to agricultural crops caused by adverse climatic conditions, which can be equated to natural disasters" for damage from frost/frost on plums, peaches/nectarines, strawberries, raspberries, almonds, hazelnuts, oil-bearing rose, pomegranate, figs, walnuts, apples, wine vineyards, dessert vineyards, pears, quinces, kiwi, dogwood, aronia in 2025 expired.
