Kalina Malina kindergarten in Nessebar has been approved under the national programme "It's Nice in Kindergarten" for its project "Folk Art in the World of the Child". In the 2026/2027 school year, the children will learn about folk games, fairy tales, crafts and instruments.

In every age group, the youngsters will get to know Bulgarian folk art through games, fairy tales, creative classes and their own experiences.

The project has three main strands. "A Colourful String of Games" covers folk games handed down through the generations. In "In the World of Folk Tales", children and teachers will act out fairy-tale characters and look for the lessons and virtues in the stories. The highlight of this strand is the children's operetta "He Who Does Not Work Shall Not Eat", which group IV, "Winnie the Pooh", will perform.

In "Creative Craft Workshop", the children will work with small looms, embroidery, needlework, pottery and other traditional crafts. They will also hear Bulgarian folk instruments played live.

To help them remember what they have learned, the children will also use a programmable robot for kids, which links tradition with modern life.

The classes run in three cycles, autumn, winter and spring, and each one is tied to folk holidays and customs.

At the "Na Megdana" festival at the end of the school year, the children will show their favourite games, their own work and everything they have learned.
