State aid for flood victims
Following the severe flooding in the country, teams from the Social Assistance Agency (SAA) visited over 400 affected households in 10 settlements. Social Minister Natalia Efremova emphasized that the goal is for the aid to reach the maximum number of people in need.
Types of social support
Affected families can rely on three main forms of support:
- Two forms of assistance from the Social Assistance Agency (SAA);
- One form of assistance from the "Social Protection" Fund.
Social support is aimed at people who have lost access to vital items such as medicine and clothing in the first hours of the disaster, Efremova pointed out.
What happens if the property is insured?
Many citizens ask whether they are entitled to state aid if their property is insured. The Minister clarified that state support can be supplementary – it covers initial emergency needs that insurance cannot cover immediately. It is important to note that social assistance cannot cover 100% of the losses, but an individual assessment is made for each case.
