French law enforcement are facing an extraordinary incident after a dramatic prison escape from "Corbas" prison, located near the city of Lyon. Official representatives from the prison administration confirmed the execution of an non-standard escape, during which a young 20-year-old prisoner managed to leave the penitentiary institution.
According to initial data, the criminal used an ingenious method – he hid in the personal luggage of another detainee who was leaving the institution after serving his sentence. The Ministry of Internal Affairs qualified the incident as extremely atypical and took immediate action.
Investigators established that the escapee was the subject of proceedings related to organized crime. Currently, the competent services are conducting a thorough internal investigation, and the Lyon prosecutor's office has also launched a parallel investigation into the circumstances.
The prison service emphasized that the perpetrator has multiple previous convictions, which further complicates the criminal profile of the case. All details surrounding the unusual escape are yet to be clarified.
