The "Amazonka" women's sailing regatta, which was successfully revived last year after a long hiatus, is set to bring together fans of the sport once again. The event is scheduled to take place from September 18 to 20 in the area of the Passenger Terminal in the city of Burgas. Organizational activities are being managed jointly by the Time2Dare women's sailing team and the local Port Burgas Yacht Club.

The competitive segment will feature identical "Conrad 25" keelboats. To ensure fair conditions, participants will be divided into teams, which will operate the vessels on a rotating basis. The event's program is packed and includes short competitive races, a specialized lecture on sports sailing and the rules of the sport, as well as an open house day for all citizens interested in sailing.

"Amazonka" Regatta Program

The "Amazonka" regatta has a rich history dating back to the 1980s in Pomorie. Its founder was the sailing enthusiast Eng. Boris Ganchev (1911–2008). The initial editions were held until the early 1990s, bringing together women's crews from all over the country. The tradition of women's sailing competitions continued in subsequent years – in 1995 in Varna, and in the period 1998–2002 in Burgas, where all-female crews competed, including women from the early editions of "Amazonka".

After a long hiatus, the sporting tradition was revived in 2022 by the Port Burgas Yacht Club. In 2025, four crews took part in the competition, and according to the organizers, the interest has also led to attracting new women to the sport. According to the teams from Time2Dare and the Port Burgas Yacht Club, the upcoming edition is an opportunity to preserve the tradition and attract new enthusiasts. Registration for the "Amazonka" regatta is open to all who wish to participate.
