The Central Election Commission (CEC) decided to send a letter to the Prime Minister and the Minister of E-Governance, with a copy to the regional election commissions, instructing the Council of Ministers (CoM) to provide the security seals that are placed on the white bags in which the election documents from the April 19 vote will be stored.
Given that the seals are election materials, based on Art. 18, para. 1 of the Election Code, the delivery of the seals must be ensured by the CoM, and it is their assessment whether this should be centralized or assigned to the regional governors and mayors, explained the CEC chairperson Kamelia Neykova during today's meeting.
She pointed out that the procedure for placing the security seals is indicated in the methodological guidelines of the CEC to the polling station election commissions on the application of the Election Code, which guidelines are expected to be adopted later today.
The CEC meeting is expected to continue at 4:00 PM.
