Dear citizens of Burgas,
Today, February 6th, Burgas marks 148 years since its liberation from Ottoman rule – a memorable date that carries within it the spirit of freedom, self-sacrifice, and our national dignity.
Therefore, we pay tribute to all known and unknown heroes who, with courage and faith in the future of Bulgaria, won the freedom of our city. Their self-sacrifice is a moral guide and a responsibility for us – to preserve historical memory and to build Burgas as a free, just, and modern European city.
148 years later, Burgas continues to develop with the strength of its spirit, with the energy of its people, and with a confident look towards the future. The freedom won with so much effort obliges us to be united, responsible, and empathetic – towards our city and towards the generations after us.
Let us, on this bright day, bow our heads in a sign of gratitude and proudly say that we are heirs to a glorious history.
Long live the free Bulgarian spirit!
Happy holiday, Burgas!
