Heavy rains have led to the declaration of a partial state of emergency in Gabrovo. Authorities are working actively to bring the situation, caused by the heavy rainfall and water inflow from the mountain, under control.
No people in distress
There are currently no people in distress. Teams with machinery are working in the areas where water and debris have overflowed, Mayor Tanya Hristova explained.
The situation remains most critical in the areas of "Cherni Lom" and "Cherni Osam" streets, where infrastructure has been seriously damaged and a footbridge has been swept away by the storm.
- Flooded basements and ground floors in the city.
- Problems with manholes that cannot handle the massive volume of water.
- Warning sent to the population via the BG-ALERT system overnight.
The water level of the Yantra River is no longer rising, which offers hope for containing the crisis, provided the rain stops within the day. Damage assessment and the restoration of normal life for citizens are pending.
