The National Assembly must proceed to one of its central functions – the voting on the budget for 2026. This was emphasized by President Iliyana Yotova in her address to the deputies during the first session of the 52nd National Assembly.
According to the head of state, the current situation with the extension of the 2025 budget is one of the most serious symptoms of the political deadlock observed recently. She warned that any delay in the legislative process carries heavy consequences for the stability of the country.
“Today, every delay condemns citizens, businesses, municipalities, and the institutions themselves to stagnation and unpredictability.”
The President acknowledged that difficult tasks lie ahead of the parliament, but called for political will and joint efforts to overcome the crisis:
- A focus on core state functions is necessary;
- Avoidance of political paralysis;
- Ensuring predictability for institutions and businesses.
The President concluded her address with an optimistic but realistic tone: “We know that not everything happens with a magic wand. It will be difficult, but with joint efforts, we must do it.”
