Burgas city councilors have approved the municipality's 2026 budget, which totals 356.6 million euros.
The approved budget includes 1.5 million euros earmarked for preparing Burgas to host the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027. Councilors also agreed that the 2027 budget will allocate funds for logistics, security, an accompanying cultural program and other activities related to the contest.
During the session, councilors also approved several proposals for additional funding in transport, sports and culture. The municipality will provide money for student transport from the village of Dimchevo, for the "Neftohimik 2010" volleyball club and its youth academy, and for the "Rashko Lomski" boxing club. Funds were also set aside for the "Burgas Cup 2026" firefighting sports tournament, as well as for the student sailing clubs in the Sarafovo and Kraymorie neighborhoods.
The budget also includes support for the Regional Gendarmerie Directorate and for the Regional Directorate of Fire Safety and Population Protection in the city.
During the discussion, various views were expressed on issues such as cleanliness, paid parking zones and public transport. Representatives of the ruling majority, for their part, pointed to the investments and measures included in the document aimed at developing Burgas.
Councilors also reviewed the state of the infrastructure along Maria Luiza Boulevard. It was clarified that the section will receive a new asphalt surface once the water utility company completes its work along the route.
