Burgas Region Unites for the European Museum Night 2026 and the European Capital of Culture Bid

Museums and galleries in the Burgas region will jointly celebrate the European Museum Night 2026 on May 16th, supporting Burgas's bid for the European Capital of Culture. A joint cultural program is planned, including exhibitions, concerts, and workshops.

Museums and galleries in the Burgas region will jointly celebrate European Museum Night 2026 on May 16, announced the Regional Historical Museum - Burgas. The decision was made unanimously during a working meeting today, March 27, with the participation of the directors of museums and galleries from Burgas, Karnobat, Sredets, Malko Tarnovo, Pomorie, Nessebar, Sozopol, Tsarevo and Primorsko, as well as the executive director of the "Burgas 2032" Foundation Ruska Boyadzhieva, the mayor of Malko Tarnovo Municipality Iliyan Yanchev and representatives of the Municipal Enterprise "Tourism" to Burgas Municipality. The initiative will support Burgas's candidacy for European Capital of Culture in 2032.

According to the organizers, on May 16, from 6:00 p.m., all museums in the region will open their doors with a joint cultural program. Exhibitions, concerts, workshops for children, fashion shows and folklore performances are planned.

During the meeting, agreement was reached on the preparation of a unified cultural calendar of the museums in the Burgas region for the period June – December 2026, as well as on the creation of a combined cultural program for 2027.

For the first time, the museums in the region have reached full agreement on coordinated actions, including in the planning and implementation of joint initiatives, scientific research and presentation of the cultural and natural heritage, add the Regional Historical Museum in Burgas.
