With a good example and high motivation from the residents of the two newly renovated blocks – No. 113 and No. 4 in the Meden Rudnik district, the initiative for separate collection of biowaste from households in Burgas has started.
The Deputy Mayor for Strategic Development and Ecology, Digitalization and Climate Change Adaptation Vesna Baltina, together with representatives of the "Ecology" department and the Regional Information Center – Burgas, met with the building managers of the two blocks. During the meeting, the rules for using the brown containers for biodegradable waste and the benefits of their application in everyday life were explained.
By the end of the week, the containers will be placed in front of the entrances of the buildings, and each household will receive an individual kitchen bucket and biodegradable bags, which will facilitate separate collection at home.
The challenge has already been accepted, and at the end of the year it will become clear which block has done the best. The most active participants will also receive incentives.
Burgas has one of the most modern anaerobic installations in the country, which processes biowaste into biogas and compost – a sustainable solution with real benefits for the environment.
