The bridge in Burgas will be illuminated in pink for the upcoming Giro d'Italia cycling tour. At a working meeting, representatives of the organizing committee, experts from Burgas Municipality, the Ministry of Tourism, the Traffic Police, and the Regional Road Administration discussed the organization of the second stage. Mayor Dimitar Nikolov emphasized the importance of the event for the city.
This year marks the 109th edition of the Giro d'Italia with 180 cyclists. Burgas is a key point with the finish of the first stage (Nesebar) and the start of the second (Veliko Tarnovo). Stages in Plovdiv and Sofia follow, before the race continues in Italy. There will be three rest days, a 40.2 km time trial, and seven climbing stages. The total elevation gain is 49,150 meters.
