Burgas Receives Regional Support for its Candidature as European Capital of Culture in 2032
Leading municipalities in the Burgas region expressed unanimous support for the campaign "Burgas 2032 – European Capital of Culture". At a working meeting in the International Congress Center, at the invitation of Mayor Dimitar Nikolov, the heads of 13 municipalities and the regional governor Vladimir Krumov confirmed their commitment to a common cultural vision and active involvement in the preparation of the candidacy.
“I am convinced that if we are together and plan strategically, we will create meaningful content that will remain long after 2032,” said Dimitar Nikolov.
Among the participants were mayors of Aytos, Malko Tarnovo, Nessebar, Pomorie, Primorsko, Sozopol, Sredets, Sungurlar, Tsarevo, deputy mayors of Kameno, Karnobat, Ruen. All confirmed that they will contribute through cultural events, festivals, presentation of local historical heritage and contemporary art.
"Burgas' candidacy will expand the cultural map of Europe with the unique traditions and innovations of the region," commented the campaign team.
A network of events with local and international participation is planned to develop creative resources and attract audiences beyond the borders of Bulgaria. An exhibition by Georgi Bayev in Berlin and partnerships with cities such as Rijeka, Croatia further enrich the exchange and vision for the initiative.
According to the regional governor Vladimir Krumov, Southeastern Bulgaria can establish itself as an engine for cultural and economic development, and the joint work between local authorities, institutions, businesses and young people will create a sustainable platform for regional development.
