Burgas paid tribute to the memory of Vasil Levski on the 153rd anniversary of the Apostle of Freedom's death. The commemorative ceremony was held in front of the bust-monument of Vasil Levski in the Sea Garden.
The event began with a military ritual and a requiem prayer, served by the Burgas clergy in front of the Apostle's monument.
Immediately afterwards, a wreath-laying and flower-laying ceremony was held, followed by a speech about the significance of his work for the freedom and independence of Bulgaria, delivered by the young actors from the branch of the Theater College "Lyuben Groys" in the city.
The Mayor of Burgas Dimitar Nikolov, the Chairman of the Municipal Council Mihail Hadjiianev, the Director of the Regional Directorate "Fire Safety and Population Protection" Sr. Commissioner Nikolai Nikolaev, Deputy Mayors Diana Savateva, Manol Todorov and Mihail Nenov, municipal councilors, 10th-grade students from PGCHE "Vasil Levski" and grateful citizens bowed their heads before the sacred deed of the national hero.
