Burgas Aims to Host Eurovision 2027
Following the historic victory of Dara and Bangaranga at the 70th edition of the song contest, Bulgaria is preparing to host in 2027. The Mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov, has expressed the city's categorical desire to host the prestigious event.
I know that Sofia would be a wonderful host, but I am declaring Burgas's categorical desire to host. We will do our absolute best to make it perfect.
In his social media post, Nikolov did not miss the opportunity to praise Dara's success:
- Historic success: Dara won the vote of both the jury and the public – a precedent in the history of the contest.
- Inspiration for the youth: Nikolov described the singer's journey as a "modern fairy tale" of perseverance and belief in dreams.
Although Sofia is often the logical choice for such large-scale events, Burgas's ambition to be a host demonstrates a push for the decentralization of world-class cultural events.
What's next?
Discussions regarding the logistical requirements and capacity of the candidate cities are expected to begin soon. Burgas is already banking on its modern infrastructure and its experience in organizing major festivals.
