Burgas is at the center of the international dialogue on sustainable architecture
A three-day international conference entitled 'Landscape architecture: Bringing harmony in a changing world' opened today, April 23, in Burgas. The event is organized on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the 'Landscape Architecture' specialty at the University of Forestry in Sofia.
The event will bring together experts from eight countries, including France, Poland, Romania, and Greece, in the seaside city. The scientific conference at the 'Morsko Casino' Cultural Center began with reports and discussions on innovations in education, sustainable urban policies, and contemporary challenges in landscape design.
Participants will focus on creating harmony between man and the changing world through intelligent landscaping.
Conference Program and Highlights
- April 24: Practical solutions and awards
The focus shifts to real-world sites in the region. Participants will see the architectural solutions in the cultural and tourist complex 'Chengene Skele', the playground 'Fishermen's Stories', and the principles of permaculture at Biotiful Farm. The evening will be dedicated to the ceremony of the Union of Landscape Architects (SLA) for the presentation of the 'Landscape Architect of the Year' awards. - April 25: History and Future
The history of higher education in the field and new philosophical trends in design will be examined at the 'Flora' Expo Center. Special attention will be paid to young talents through the presentation of a 'Map of Opportunities' by the Student Association (ASLA) and an exhibition of student projects.
The conference demonstrates the enormous importance of landscape architecture for the development of the green system in Bulgaria and international perspectives in design.
