ODMVR – Burgas reports activity in the fight against crime.
ODMVR – Burgas officers registered two other criminal offenses and one fire in a 24-hour period, resulting in three police proceedings. Within the same period, 14 crimes were solved, according to a press release from the regional directorate. Details of the solved cases shed light on the intensive work of the officers and highlight the escalating problem of drug and alcohol use on the roads of the Southern Black Sea coast.
Solved Cases
Among the series of solved crimes, the case from September 10, around 11:40 AM in Sozopol, deserves special attention. Officers from the Sozopol Police Department conducted a search of an apartment in the "Santa Marina" complex, inhabited by a 27-year-old man from Momina Prohod and a 26-year-old woman from Sofia. The search revealed and seized 9 grams of cannabis, 3 grams of cocaine, and a colorful cardboard with an LCD screen. The 27-year-old man was detained for up to 24 hours, and a fast-track proceeding was initiated. This incident illustrates the problem of drug trafficking in resort areas and highlights the need for stricter measures to combat this phenomenon.
Another case involving violations of the Road Traffic Act was registered in Sunny Beach on the same day. Around 2:45 PM in the area of the "Bozhensko Hanche" tavern, officers from the Nessebar Police Department stopped a four-wheeled vehicle without a rear license plate, driven by a 52-year-old French citizen. It was established that the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol with a concentration of 1.53 промила (ppm). His refusal to provide a blood sample for chemical analysis further aggravated the situation. A fast-track proceeding was initiated, highlighting the driver"s irresponsibility and potential danger to other road users. The high blood alcohol concentration indicates a serious risk of a traffic accident.
A third case, also in Sunny Beach, around 9:50 PM in the parking lot of the "VIP Club Delfin" hotel, illustrates the spread of drugs among drivers. Officers from the Nessebar Police Department stopped a BMW X6 with Burgas registration, driven by a 39-year-old resident of Nessebar. It was established that the driver was driving under the influence of cocaine and methamphetamine. He was detained for 24 hours, and a fast-track proceeding was initiated. The discovered drugs show the alarming trend of the increasingly widespread use of such substances in the region.
In addition to cases involving lawbreakers, an arson case was also registered. On September 10, a report was received at the Aytos Police Department about the arson of two separate waste collection containers on "Dimitar Blagoev_q_ Street No. 3 in Aytos. The incident occurred on September 6. The exact amount of damage is still being assessed, but a pre-trial proceeding has been initiated. This event highlights the need for enhanced security measures and prevention of such acts of vandalism.
