On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the founding of the Burgas Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), diplomas and plaques were awarded in the conference center of the “Bulgaria” hotel to institutions and organizations recognized for their long-term cooperation with the chamber and for their contribution to the development of the region.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of business, the academic community, state and municipal institutions, as well as partner organizations with which the BCCI has worked and continues to work.
Among the awardees are the Regional Administration – Burgas, Burgas Municipality, the Burgas State University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov“, the Free University of Burgas, the Vocational High School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronics, the Commercial High School, the Regional Information Center in the seaside town and the local Employment Office.
The educational institutions, awarded by the chamber, were awarded for their significant contribution to the training of qualified specialists and their cooperation with business. The Burgas State University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov“ and the Free University of Burgas are long-term partners in projects and initiatives that connect the academic environment with entrepreneurial practice, and the vocational high schools in the city contribute to the professional training of young specialists in technical and economic fields, the BCCI emphasized.
The chamber pointed out that the event is an occasion to pay tribute to the institutions and people who, over the decades, have built the authority of the business organization and have supported the development of the economy in the region. The chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Todor Demirkov, recalled that it was created at the beginning of the 20th century by leading local traders and industrialists and over the years has supported the business through expert consultations, mediation and representation, both in periods of growth and in economic challenges. He emphasized the importance of cooperation with the local authorities, educational institutions and state institutions.
The Regional Governor of Burgas Region, Vladimir Krumov, congratulated the attendees on the anniversary and informed that this year a repair of the roof of the Regional Administration building, which was the first home of the industrial chamber in Burgas 120 years ago, has begun. He stated that the administration will continue to support businesses as an institutional partner. The Burgas Chamber of Commerce and Industry is among the first in the country and throughout its 120-year history has actively participated in the development of the local economy, the support of entrepreneurship and the strengthening of the link between business, education and public institutions, its representatives further emphasized.
