The “BSP-United Left” coalition submitted documents and 7930 signatures to the Central Election Commission (CEC) for registration to participate in the early parliamentary elections on April 19 this year.

We are registering for these elections with the intention of returning Bulgarian politics to the normal track, an end to fruitless scandals, ugly insults, and obvious betrayals, politics according to principles, said the chairman of BSP, Krum Zarkov, to journalists in the CEC.

Our principles are clear, they are socialist and are shared by all left-wing parties in the world – justice, solidarity, freedom, and these principles cannot be realized in the conditions of mafia-oligarchic rule, which we must stop, and in the conditions of wars. That is why we are prioritizing the fight for the rule of law and efforts for peace, he said. We will work for a good quality of life for Bulgarian citizens in a just Bulgaria and in a peaceful Europe, added the chairman of BSP.

When asked if there are any concerns given the sociological surveys, which do not give “BSP-United Left” great chances of entering parliament, Krum Zarkov said that there are no concerns at all because he sees what is happening in the country and there is mobilization of Bulgarian socialists. "BSP will participate in the next parliament and it will participate in a very significant way," he said.

Asked with whom BSP is ready to work in the next parliament and whether the political project of the President from 2017 to 2016, Rumen Radev, is a potential partner, Zarkov said that it is too early to talk about coalition partners. First, we stated our principles and goals, whoever shares them is welcome to talk, he pointed out. But secondly, all interactions of BSP from now on will be subject to the principles of equality, transparency, and clear rules. BSP can partner, BSP will never be subordinate again, Zarkov said.
