GERB leader Boyko Borisov has congratulated Bulgaria's police officers on Police Day, 8 November, in a Facebook post.

He wrote that keeping people safe takes a strong, professional police force that is free from political pressure.

"I know the price of this profession," Borisov said. He believes the state should give Interior Ministry staff respect, support and clear responsibility.

On 6 November, two days before the holiday, we reported that two police officers from Burgas had received the Interior Ministry's Badge of Honour, third class. They are senior investigator Kalina Kutsarova-Pazvantova and chief inspector Miroslav Zhelev. Another 108 staff of the Burgas directorate also received awards.

"Respect to all who wear the uniform with honour," the GERB leader added.
