Customs officials at the "Kapitan Andreevo" border crossing seized nearly 48 kilograms of cocaine during a specialized operation conducted on May 15. The prosecutor's office press center reported on the operation.

According to the prosecution, the actions of the customs officers were taken following operational information received from the SANS (State Agency for National Security). After the tip-off, an inspection was carried out in the border area, targeting vehicles traveling towards Turkey.

The drugs were found in a heavy goods vehicle with Danish transit registration plates, left in a parking lot near the border. The truck was traveling on a route from Belgium, through the territory of Bulgaria, with a final destination of Turkey.

During the inspection of the tractor unit's fuel tank, customs officers noticed four bags. Inside them, a total of 43 packages containing a white powdery substance were found. A field drug test confirmed the presence of cocaine.

The value of the seized quantity is estimated at 4,409,278.92 euros based on prices used for judicial purposes. This is one of the significant drug shipments intercepted recently at the border with Turkey.

Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office – Haskovo. At this stage, there are no reports of detained persons in connection with the crime.
