The Basin Directorate "Black Sea Region" commissioned the sampling and analysis of seawater off the coast of Ahtopol due to the operation to remove the vessel "Kairos". The investigations include indicators for petroleum products, polychlorinated biphenyls, benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene, styrene, and fats.
The aim is to monitor the condition of the waters during the activities. Previous monitoring did not establish pollution, but control continues.
The Ministry of Environment and Water is strengthening control and monitoring and will inform of any changes.
