The Bulgarian Association of Marine Captains (BAMC) has proposed measures to deal with the risk of pollution of our sea coast due to the tanker "Kairos," the association's Management Board announced.

The abandonment of the tanker in a distressed state and without management threatens the safety of shipping, the ecological and maritime safety of Bulgaria.

The tanker ran aground near Ahtopol after a Turkish tugboat abandoned it due to bad weather. The "Maritime Administration" announced that the operation to tow the tanker away begins tomorrow.

BAMC insists on a technical expertise, an emergency plan and humanitarian aid. The association calls on the institutions to take action to take the tanker to a safe area.
