All polling stations in Burgas region opened on time and voting began normally, Georgi Mihov, head of the Regional Election Commission in Burgas, told BTA.
The only problem was in Karnobat, where a machine broke down as the station opened. Staff switched to paper ballots. Mihov said there were no other technical problems in the region.
How it all began: 653 machines for voting go to nearly 750 polling stations in Burgas region before the runoff
The region has 653 voting machines in 605 stations that use machine voting. Of these, 48 stations have two machines each, which is 54 more machines than at the last election. Nearly 180 technicians look after the machine vote.
The commission said every station has paper ballots in case a machine fails.
About 10% of polling station commission members were replaced because they did not turn up for the first round or had said in advance that they would be absent.
