Leading Bulgarian tennis player Victoria Tomova experienced a slight drop in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) world rankings, moving down one position to 105th place with 693 points.
Her performance was affected by her elimination in the first round of a WTA 250 series tournament in the Czech capital Prague, which impacted her ranking.
In parallel, young talent Lidia Encheva marked a remarkable rise in the rankings. At 18 years old, she made an impressive leap of 36 positions, reaching her record 570th place with 79 points.
Encheva's success is a result of her impressive achievements in recent weeks. At the end of June, she won her first women's title in the ITF International Federation series and reached a final in a tournament in Serbia.
No significant changes occurred in the top 10 of the world rankings. The lead position continues to be held by Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka with an impressive 12,420 points. American Coco Gauff maintains second place with 7,669 points, and Polish Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek occupies the third position with 6,813 points.
Among the top ten competitors are Jessica Pegula and Mirra Andreeva, who occupy fourth and fifth places respectively. The ranking is completed by Qinwen Zheng, Amanda Anisimova, Madison Keys, Jasmine Paolini, and Paula Badosa.
In the depths of the ranking, Bulgarian tennis players occupy various positions. Besides Tomova and Encheva, our representatives include Lia Karatancheva (263rd place), Isabella Shinikova (367th place), Denislava Glushkova (425th place), and Rositsa Dencheva (435th place).
The doubles ranking is also of interest, where leaders are Taylor Townsend from the USA with 8,105 points and Katerina Siniakova from the Czech Republic with 7,820 points. In this discipline, Bulgarian athletes also have their presence, with Victoria Tomova occupying 142nd place with 567 points.
These results show the dynamics in women's world tennis and the potential of Bulgarian athletes to develop and establish themselves on the international stage.
