Bulgarian soldiers depart for a mission in Kosovo: Stara Zagora sends off 97 heroes

97 service members from the 2nd Tundzha Mechanized Brigade are departing for a six-month mission in Kosovo. The contingent will patrol and maintain security in the KFOR zone.

Bulgarian contingent departs for NATO's KFOR mission in Kosovo

With a solemn ceremony in Stara Zagora, 97 Bulgarian military personnel were sent off to join Regional Command-West, part of the NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR).

"You are going there to help, not to impose," stated Major General Deyan Deshkov, Commander of the Land Forces.

Main mission tasks:

The military personnel will be based at "Villaggio Italia" for the next six months. The Assistant National Commander of the contingent, Major Deyan Manolov, emphasized that the key to success is teamwork based on personal example and discipline. The Deputy Mayor of Stara Zagora, Milena Zheleva, presented the soldiers with the city flag and an icon of Saint George the Victorious for protection.
