Young Bulgarian wrestler Stefan Stefanov will have the opportunity to win a bronze medal at the World Wrestling Championship for boys and girls under 17 years old, which is currently taking place in the Greek capital Athens.
In extremely competitive semifinals in the up to 110 kilograms category in freestyle, the Bulgarian representative lost with a decisive 0:3 points to the Russian athlete Magomedarusl Omarov, who is competing as a neutral athlete.
Despite the loss, Stefanov still has a chance to win a bronze medal in the competition, which places him among the leading young talents in the global wrestling community.
Another Bulgarian athlete - Valentin Iliev, who initially had ambitions to participate in the repechage, is now out of the medal race. His hopes were cut short after Dinmukhamed Kassimbek from Kazakhstan, who defeated him in the qualifying matches, was eliminated from the competition by losing to the Iranian wrestler Mohammadparsa Karami in the semifinals.
The championship continues to be extremely competitive, with Bulgarian athletes demonstrating high professionalism and ambition in the international wrestling arena.
