At the European Weightlifting Championship for cadets in the Spanish capital Madrid, Bulgarian athlete Maria Alexandra Arnaudova performed exceptionally well, taking eighth place in her age group.
In the highly competitive category up to 69 kilograms for girls under 17 years old, Arnaudova achieved a total result of 172 kilograms. Her performance was characterized by precision and stability, as she managed to successfully complete one attempt in both classic weightlifting disciplines.
In her initial attempts, she lifted 75 kilograms in the snatch and 97 kilograms in the clean and jerk, demonstrating technical preparation and concentration. Although she did not win a medal, her achievement is remarkable at such a high-level international competition.
The champion in the category, Daria Kuznetsova from the Individual Neutral Athletes, won first place with a total result of 199 kilograms, achieving 91 kilograms in the snatch and 108 kilograms in the clean and jerk. Second place went to Polish athlete Iga Burda with 196 kilograms, and third place was taken by Ukrainian Oleksandra Chmukh with 188 kilograms.
An interesting fact is that on the same day of the championship in Madrid, another Bulgarian athlete - Sofia Garsia Stefanova, is expected to take the podium, who will compete in the category up to 77 kilograms for girls under 17 years old.
