The French daily Le Figaro published in its online edition an article dedicated to Bulgaria as an attractive tourist destination. The reason is the country's accession to the Eurozone from January 1, 2026. Under the title "Bulgaria joined the Eurozone: what can we visit there?" the destination is presented as diverse, accessible and suitable for weekend trips, with a rich cultural heritage, impressive nature and excellent value for money, the Ministry of Tourism reports.
The material, whose author is Iman Benotman - a journalist specializing in tourism, focuses on emblematic sites such as the Rila Monastery, the Rose Valley, Cape Kaliakra and the city of Plovdiv, as well as the growing interest from European tourists. Representatives of TUI France are also quoted, who report a "strong start" to the 2026 season and an increase in bookings for Bulgaria, supported by the introduction of the euro and, in this sense, the facilitated travel to the country.
Le Figaro, founded in 1826, is among the old and influential French national dailies with a wide international audience and a leading role in covering political, economic, cultural and tourist topics.
The Ministry of Tourism assesses such publications as an important contribution to the promotion of Bulgaria on key European markets and to the consolidation of the country's positive image as a modern, accessible and hospitable tourist destination, the department said.
The publication is another proof of the increased international media interest in Bulgaria in the context of its new status as a member of the Eurozone and its affirmation as a year-round tourist destination.
