The diplomatic mission of Bulgarian Energy Minister Zhetcho Stankov in the American capital outlined extensive perspectives for technological and energy cooperation. The focus of the working visit was concentrated on attracting strategic investors in the digital economy and clean energy sectors.
During official talks with representatives from Meta, the Clean Energy Buyers Association (CEBA), and IP3 Corporation, opportunities for building high-tech industrial zones were discussed. Minister Stankov emphasized the exceptional competitive advantages of the area around the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, including immediate proximity to an energy source, modern communication infrastructure, and water resources availability.
A key message in diplomatic negotiations was the need for reliable electricity supply for large-scale digital projects. "Nuclear energy represents a stable foundation for sustainable economic growth and high-tech industry development," the minister stated emphatically.
Meetings with leading managers such as Darya Kosich from Meta, Rich Powell from CEBA, and Michael Hewitt from IP3 Corporation outlined potential joint initiatives. The possibility of organizing a specialized investment exhibition focused on the digital sector was discussed.
In a separate important dialogue with Karoline Eliassen from Phillips 66, issues of diversification and long-term scenarios for LNG supplies were examined. Experts analyzed mechanisms for deepening transatlantic energy partnership.
The culmination of the visit was participation in a roundtable of the Business Council for International Understanding, dedicated to critical energy infrastructure. The discussion emphasized the need for strategic dialogue between the public sector, financial institutions, and technology companies.
The ultimate goal of the diplomatic mission was clearly formulated – to establish Bulgaria as a regional center for innovation, technology, and sustainable energy.
