Radev: Full mobilization of teams to tackle the fire disaster
For the first time in many years, the state has five helicopters and crews in full readiness for firefighting. A specialized "Spartan" aircraft is also joining them, ready to respond if necessary, announced Prime Minister Rumen Radev at the beginning of the regular government meeting.
"Our society is increasingly realizing that it is the duty of each one of us to protect nature and property," the Prime Minister emphasized.
Why is Bulgaria better protected this year?
- Reducing intentional arson: Data from the General Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection shows a distinct drop in fires caused by negligence or intentional acts.
- Preventive work: Effective coordination and forward-deployed firefighting posts in hazardous areas have prevented large-scale disasters despite extreme temperatures.
- Synchronization between institutions: Efforts are united among firefighters, forestry workers, the Ministry of Defense, farmers, and volunteers.
Although Southern Europe is gripped by fires, Bulgaria is managing to keep the situation under control thanks to systematic work and the responsible behavior of citizens.
