Bulgaria Takes Over the Chairmanship of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation

The Republic of Bulgaria took over the presidency of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization, placing emphasis on regional development, ecology, and international partnerships.

The official start of the Bulgarian presidency in BSEC was set on July 14, 2025, during a large-scale video conference meeting with the participation of leading diplomatic representatives. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Shekerlетova presented the strategic priorities of the new mandate, which outline an ambitious program for regional interaction.

The key areas of the presidency include comprehensive initiatives in the fields of ecology, marine resources, cultural exchange, and tourism. Special focus was placed on mechanisms for regional resilience and crisis management, as well as deepening partnerships with the European Union.

The leading message of the Bulgarian mandate – "Collective Engagement in the Black Sea Region" – emphasizes the desire for consolidation and joint development of the countries in the region. National Coordinator Rositsa Stoeva leads the finalization of a detailed plan with over 50 planned international events.

The diplomatic program covers the period until December 31, 2025, and aims to strengthen regional cooperation through large-scale multilateral initiatives and strategic partnerships.
