At its last regular meeting of the year, the caretaker government approved a two-year overlapping work plan for the period 01.07.2025 - 31.12.2027 for cooperation between Bulgaria and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). The document is in implementation of the Partnership Program between our country and UNICEF, the government information service announced.
The planned measures and activities in the plan are aimed at strengthening support for early childhood development and child protection, reducing poverty, promoting social inclusion, and monitoring children's rights. Focus is also placed on strengthening the educational system at national and local levels to expand access to inclusive and quality education and building skills for all children, including those in the most disadvantaged situations.
Activities are also provided for guaranteeing the right of every child to live in a safe and supportive family environment, promoting children's participation in decision-making to improve policies for children, as well as for the prevention of violence against children and the protection of victims.
The implementation of the two-year work plan aims to support Bulgaria's efforts to guarantee the rights and well-being of children, including those in disadvantaged and vulnerable situations, so that they can develop their full potential in an inclusive and protective society.
Bulgaria ranks among the top ten countries that have made significant progress in reducing the proportion of children affected by severe material deprivation for the period 2015-2024, achieving the largest reduction of over 50%, according to data from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), announced in November.
