The Council of Ministers approved a Memorandum of Understanding and an Action Plan between the governments of Bulgaria, Greece, and Romania, aimed at strengthening cooperation in the field of transport, the government press service announced.
On the Bulgarian side, the document will be signed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadjov.
By signing, the three countries commit to coordinated actions to connect the Aegean Sea, the Black Sea, and the Danube River through joint road and railway projects, the cabinet points out.
The strengthening and completion of the European transport corridors “Baltic Sea – Black Sea – Aegean Sea” (VVA) and “Rhine-Danube” are among the strategic priorities of the EU, providing better connectivity and reliable infrastructure for civil, commercial, and defense needs.
Last week, the Road Infrastructure Agency and the Managing Authority of the Interreg VI-A Greece - Bulgaria 2021-2027 Cross-Border Cooperation Program signed a financing agreement for the project “Improving mobility and safety in the cross-border area - (CrossBo2)”. With funding from the program, the Agency is implementing three projects that play an important role in transport accessibility and connectivity between the two countries. The aim is to improve road safety, reduce travel time, transport costs, and increase environmental protection in the border regions.
