Large-scale operation by BFSA against hazardous foods

Inspectors from the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) have launched a series of surprise inspections in the major cities of Sofia, Plovdiv, and Burgas. The result is the seizure of nearly 5 tons of food that do not meet legal safety requirements.

The most significant violation was discovered in a wholesale warehouse in Sofia, where over 4.6 tons of expired products were identified.

Measures taken by the Agency

In Sofia, 4,630 kg of food have been sent for immediate destruction, and administrative violation acts will be issued to the offenders. In Plovdiv and Burgas, mandatory instructions have been issued, and butter samples have been taken for laboratory testing.

The BFSA reminds that they are strengthening control over incoming shipments of dairy raw materials, with monitoring now being carried out at the destination sites to ensure maximum safety for consumers.
