Teams from the Social Assistance Agency (SAA) will visit the affected people in the Haskovo region, where yards and ground floors are flooded, and in some places, electricity was also cut off, the press center of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy announced. The caretaker Minister of Labor, Hassan Ademov, ordered the SAA teams to be fully prepared to provide support to people affected by the worsened meteorological conditions.

Social workers received instructions to contact elderly and vulnerable people from the Municipality of Ardino, where villages are cut off due to the rising level of the Arda River in Kardzhali. SAA employees are also closely monitoring the situation in the Municipality of Galabovo due to the rising level of the Sokolitsa River.

A partial state of disaster has been declared in the municipality of Galabovo, and the BG-ALERT system has been activated.

SAA teams are ready to assist with temporary accommodation if needed. On the spot, they will also consult people on the possibilities for disaster relief provided by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. By law, people with damaged property are entitled to assistance up to three times the poverty line - 1171 euros, and if the damaged home is the only one, they can receive another 1550 euros, the Social Ministry recalls.

Over the last 24 hours, the bad weather has led to problems in a number of regions. In some settlements, damage was inflicted on homes and yards. The agency's teams are ready to respond in other places in the country if necessary, the Ministry also points out.
