The Congress of the Alliance of Democrats and Liberals for Europe (ALDE), held on October 24 and 25 in Brussels, issued a resolution condemning political arrests, politically motivated persecutions, and the undermining of the rule of law in Bulgaria, the press center of the political formation "We Continue the Change" announced.

In the heart of the European capital, where the peaks of European democracy meet, the tension dictated by the debates seemed to be felt from the air.

From the side of "We Continue the Change", the chairman of the party, as well as the co-chair of the parliamentary group of PP-DB, the former co-chair of PP and the deputy chairman of the PG of PP-DB, took part in the congress.

The resolution calls on the ALDE parties to raise the issue of "illegal political detentions in Bulgaria before their national parliaments, requesting hearings with the foreign ministers and through their ambassadors in Bulgaria", the released information states. The issue, it seems, is becoming increasingly central on the political scene.

From "We Continue the Change" they insist on the temporary suspension of payments under the Recovery and Sustainability Plan of Bulgaria until all political prisoners are released.

In addition, the decision to organize an ALDE mission to establish facts in Bulgaria has been confirmed. The purpose of this mission is to assess the state of the rule of law and report to the ALDE Bureau.

Before the congress, within the framework of debates in the European Parliament, the president of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) called on the European Commission to act immediately. "If we lose democracy in Bulgaria, we will lose Bulgaria itself", she emphasized. The discussion was initiated by the group of "Renew Europe" and was dedicated to "the continuing encroachment on democratic institutions and the rule of law in Bulgaria", "We Continue the Change" reported. The atmosphere in the European Parliament hall was saturated with expectation, the question of the future of democracy obviously concerned everyone present.
