The opposition demands explanations from the executive branch
Prior to the review of the draft resolution for the stationing of US military personnel and aircraft on Bulgarian territory, the opposition in the National Assembly requested an urgent hearing of the Prime Minister and the involved ministers.
Ivaylo Mirchev from "Democratic Bulgaria" insisted on the Prime Minister's presence, linking the matter to a potential energy deal as well.
Demands of the political forces
- We Continue the Change: Asen Vasilev emphasized the gravity of the topic and requested a 30-minute recess to arrange for the Prime Minister's attendance.
- GERB-UDF: Hristo Gadzhev pointed out that the Foreign Minister is more suitable for a hearing on this case.
- Logistical concerns: Georg Georgiev insisted on the presence of the Minister of Transport due to the upcoming heavy logistical tasks.
The Prime Minister's position
Earlier today, during the government meeting, Prime Minister Rumen Radev categorically stated that Bulgarian territory will not be used for combat operations in the Middle East.
