Intensive day for the fire department: 150 alerts in 24 hours
Over the past 24 hours, teams from the General Directorate "Fire Safety and Population Protection" have extinguished 97 fires. Despite the rapid response, two people were injured in the incidents.
"The cause of the fire was a short circuit, triggered by an air conditioner," the fire department reported regarding an incident in the capital.
Chronicle of the injured:
- Sofia: A 92-year-old woman was injured after inhaling toxic fumes during an apartment fire.
- Village of Pchela (Elhovo): A 66-year-old man suffered burns while attempting to extinguish burning dry grass in his yard.
Incident statistics:
Material damage was caused in 27 fires, with residential buildings being the most affected (12 cases). The remaining 70 fires resulted in no direct damage, as the majority of them were ignitions of dry grass and waste.
In addition to firefighting, the teams carried out 44 rescue operations, including during accidents and technical incidents. Nine false calls were also registered.
